Audio FAQ [an error occurred while processing this directive] Audible is a source of audio books, radio programs, historical recordings, and other materials to listen to. There are over 4,000 titles to choose from. They charge a fee to access most of their content. They also offer a free Audible player for Windows CE H/PCs , P/PCs and Pocket PCs. FKeyboard turns your H/PC into a piano. The website is in Japanese but you can see how the app works by looking at the screen shot. Also, only the SH3 is supported. Modplay from Jimmy allows you to play Mod files on your Windows CE Companion. It only supports 4 or 8 channel mods. MIDIPlay allows you to play MIDI files via the serial port to another MIDI device. MP3 MP3 is a highly compressed audio format generally used for music. XAudio offers a free MP3 player for Windows CE. UtopiaSoft offers a commercial MP3 player called Hum for Windows CE as well. PalmPlayer by Conduits allows Palm-size PC users to play MP3s in stereo (E-100) or mono. Also, it has a playlist and the ability customize the interface as the user prefers. PlayMidi offers the ability to use a Roland SCP-55 Sound Canvas PC Card with Windows CE. It allows you to play MIDI files through the card. Real Networks now offers RealOne Player for Mobile Devices! It now supports the Pocket PC only. The comments below were issued before this offering.

Commentswhen will realaudio be available in Windows CE
CommentsThe XAUDIO MP3 player is no longer free. Too bad for us CE users... the WinAmp player for Win95/98 is now free but unfortunately NullSoft doesn't have a WinCE version (yet?).
CommentsDoes MIDplayer work on a E-11=? Please answer by email. - Magnus Kjøller, denmark. magnus@theexpo.dk www.TheExpo.dk
CommentsI'm sure I've recently seen some sort of press release saying that RealNetworks was, indeed, working on a RealPlayer [G2] for the WinCE platform. Isn't this true?
CommentsIs there any WMA player on windows ce
CommentsIt will be a great improvement for Windows Ce to got the powerfull sound via RealAudio.
CommentsWe need Real Audio, but since it is such a lousy company I will settle for MP3! People need to stop supporting RA since it is such a pain in the ass. Real vid sucks too.
Commentsreal audio for windows ce please!
CommentsPLEASE REAL AUDIO. GIVE US THE PLAYER FOR CE
CommentsI am looking for any kind of streaming audio. Real, MP3 or MS.
Commentsplease get us the windows ce RealAudio.......we'll listen, we will, we will, we will tell all of our friends about Real.com too........ desperate to be connected like everyone else Awaiting
CommentsI would be very interested in a realaudio player for my Cassiopeia E-100. However, I would obviously need to be able to put the realaudio files on my PPC. My PPC does not have an internet connection - I don't see a reason to have one. My laptop however does. I would like to download the audio files and then listen to them later, at my leisure.
Comments(Regarding sound and mp3 on ce) Actually, the problem is that some pda, HPCs, etc. do not have earphone jacks!!! let alone sterio capability. Ssmebody should make a pccard mp3 player with a sterio headphone jack!
CommentsI Need Realplayer for CE
CommentsI have a Casio e-105 with windows mobile audio and cant figure out how to add songs to it so it can play! Help FRED
CommentsSome people think that they can play .wma files on the casio E-105..via the Microsoft Mobile Audio Player.Well - they can't. Microsoft and Casio have not got their act together and it cannot be done. I have complained for so long that my fingers are numb. bish@tcp.co.uk
CommentsI would be very much interested in the ability to hear streaming audio from my Windows CE device. I hope there is sufficient interest to make development of this capability worthwhile.
CommentsI have an CASIO E-105G, it's the german release. Unfortunatly i can't change the skins within the casio mobile audio player. casio only included version 1.0. does anybody have a release where i can change the skin? apache_lance@hotmail.com
CommentsPlease, RealAudio sucks. Currently there is no good streaming media. They all suck. I wish more people would store them in MP3 or some other downloadable format so that I wouldn't have to listen to 'chop, chop, chop, chop...'
Commentsplease make a CE version of real audio. I have a socket ethernet flash card and would like to use my cassiopeia e-500 as a radio. thank you
CommentsIt would sure be usefull to have a real audio player available for my windows CE handheld. jwickham@micron.net
CommentsHello, I'd think it would be great if there was a version of Real Player for Windows CE!
Commentswhat about software for multi-track recording with windows ce? what about adding memory to support it? post or email me with ideas noctourn@aol.com
CommentsI would like to use my Compaq Aero1520 to download and play MP3 files as the advertisement said it would (of course, I'd need some shareware or software) BUT CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT SOFTWARE I NEED AND WHERE TO GET IT? Palmplayer doesn't work on my Aero and I am baffled by the advertisement that doesn't seem to be true ....reply to: almira@compusnet.com and thanks!
CommentsPocket PCs are the next wave of technology. Get in now or Microsoft takes over. If Microsoft actually releases their Media Player in February, and there is no Real Player available, I will probably convert the desktop PCs to Media Player as well for consistency.
CommentsThis is to register my interest in a Windows CE version of RealAudio.
CommentsIt would be great to have Real Audio on the go. Please...
Commentsi would like to use a RealAudio version for windows ce. amontano@prodigy.net.mx
CommentsPlease offer a version of Real Player to support Windows CE.
CommentsPlease develope a Windows CE version of RealAudio. The MP3 format takes too much memory. I don't have enough memory to spare.
CommentsPlease create a version of the Real Player for Windows CE. Thanks
CommentsI am interested in a Windows CE version of RealAudio. Hope you have plans for this in the near future. Kara Norwood karat@onebox.com
CommentsWith the convergence of computer and wireless technologies, Real Audio for mobile operating systems would seem the obvious direction for Real Networks to steer. Im sure that if this proposed product were to be released, the demand would more than justify the cost of development. K.Bell
Commentshey we want to get real!
CommentsI'm the proud new owner of a (now discontinued) IBM Z50 and would love to see a CE-based version of either RealPlayer or the Windows Media Player. Or both. Sure, MP3 sounds better, but it's an impractical format for most CE-based devices unless one spends a fair amount of money upgrading memory. I hear that Windows has a CE version of Media Player in the pipeline and am crossing my fingers that it'll be compatible with the Z50.
CommentsI would love it if they would port RealAudio to Windows CE. It would be useful to get the daily news and stock updates.. I currently use MP3s on my H/PC, which works pretty well. But I really want to use it to stream audio off of the web.. With all of the audio choices we have, I don't need my H/PC for music. I need it for information.
CommentsHi there as a long-standing and paying customer of RA and RJB, I would clearly welcome a CE-version of RealPlayer. Regards Hans0001@aol.com
CommentsDear Real Networks: Why even bother taking legal action against Streambox or any other developers which want to convert your widely used format. It seems to me that a more profitable venture would be either to develop a converter yourself or develop a player for the exploding PDA market. You've had more than your market share for the past few years now, either keep up or step aside.
CommentsI like Real Audio, and have it installed on my home desktop. I wish I could obtain a copy that would work on my traveling CE machine, which is a NEC MobilePro 800 currently running CE ver 2.1
Commentsi understand you have developed a windows CE player for real audio within the webTV developments. It would be great to make this available for palm sized pc players running windows CE. At present we can play mp3 and wma files. Alternatively give us a converter from ra to mp3 format then all those mp3 players could play your ra files.
Commentsi really would like to have a version
CommentsWhen is the Windows CE Version of a RealAudio be available?
Commentshttp://www.utopiasoft.com/ says that it's ce mp3 player is now free.
CommentsThe HUM Player 1.62 is free! check out www.utopiasoft.com
CommentsIt would be very helpful to be able to listen to many of the real audio radio programs on my Ce palm.
CommentsI'm having trouble playing any formatted type of audio note recording on my HP548 on my desktop. Are there any utilities that should allow me to play PCM and HP formatted audio note files on my desktop or notebook? I'd appreciate any help you might offer. Thanks Barry Sorkin Barrysorkin@mindspring.com
CommentsOne of the things why I bought my Windows CE is to be able to listen the radio of my country at night. I don't understand how a company that is supposed to try to make RA an standard does not have a RA player for all the operating systems, including WinCE, psion and Palm. Apart of that I think that the effort to put the core of your system in such a tiny device can help you to make the program the most small and fast possible.
CommentsSOMEONE Definitely needs to make a PCMCIA Card that has a stereo audio output for Windows CE Devices. I have a Compaq 2015c with ROM AND RAM Upgrades. The only reason I bought it was for an MP3 player for the car... NO AUDIO OUT ON THE UNIT!!! I am devastated... Any Solutions??? I just wasted $450!
Commentsi understand that there is no realplayer for windows ce. is there any shareware of other "hack" that will allow me to use another program on windows CE to hear realaudio files?? thanks!
CommentsI wish there is a Windows CE version of Real Player. It should not just support the latest Windows CE 3.o, but it should support Windows CE 2.x onwards.. I would but it for any price..
CommentsWhen Real Audio for HP Jornada 820? How else one can listen to BBC with the HP Jornada? Where to find a substitute program that reads real audio files?
CommentsDoes anyone know of a stereo in and out CF adapter for the E-100? I would like to write a spectrum analyzer program that will run on the PPC.
Commentsthis would be greatly appreciated and highly needed for the company and for ce users.
CommentsAnyone know of, or working on a audio card with phono in specs. 50k input 92db down or better capable of amplfying .5 mil-volt to +,- 1 volt.Would enable LP transfer to wav. without pre-amp. OERSTEDS@AOL.COM
CommentsWho cares about real audio? I would like to see better midi support - an editable midi sequencer and maybe a wavetable engine? does this exist? fnp@primus.com.au
CommentsPLEASE I NEED YOUR REAL IN MY POCKET PC.
CommentsYou can add me to the list. I want to play real audio files on my Compaq iPAQ pocket pc. If the player is not available, I will take a converter to MS Media Player.

CommentsI would be the first to add RealAudio to my HP Jordana 690 if I could. I use it on my desktop and feel it is great. Joe
CommentsNeed a Real Player for PocketPC (Windows CE 3.0)
CommentsI would really like to see a realplayer for my jornada 820. it has an internal modem at 56Kbps, and Is the perfect thing for receiving streams on the road.
CommentsI would purchase RealAudio for WinCE devices immediately. rstoner@aeroponics.com
CommentsIt would be cool but hey, it's just another reason to go with MP3!
CommentsI would really appreciate a windows ce version of real*.
CommentsHello, I would like to see a port of your real audio software made available to the Windows CE community. Currently we have MS Media-Player 7 and Pocket TV. Both have obvious short commings in the handheld device world. You have a highly compressed format that would lend itself wonderfully to these devices. Leslie Marentette ljmarent@hotmail.com
CommentsWould love to see RealPlayer for CE!
CommentsLots of seminar content is in .ra If we can have a real palyer for Pocket PC, it will be great. Otherwise, ra->mp3 converter also will be fine - but we can NOT see the slides
Commentsi'm always on the go and have very little time on my desktop pc. i really love the official website on the real audio but have little time for it. wish they'd make one for the ce with excellent compression. i've only got 4 mb.
CommentsYes, by all means, let;'s see a Real Audio player for WinCE Walter Wagoner
CommentsPlease develop a version for Windows CE
Commentsur guys multimedia software rocks. you should consider windows ce development. realaudio is a must have even on pockect pcs!!!!!

CommentsI am definitely interested in a RealAudio capability for my iPAQ Ron Smith

CommentsI would really like to have a Real player for WinCE! I have lots of clips in .ram format that I would like to be able to take with me and show to others. It's a pain to cart my portable around.. the pocket pc is so much easier.
CommentsPLEASE, I don't want to send any data anywhere... I just want to play MIDIs through the speaker/headphone jack of my iPaq 3650 Email me when you get a basic simple midi player that plays midis and nothing else! arkofnoah@hotmail.com
CommentsSince no Real Audio is available for Windows CE I have no choice but use ASFs from now on. Good luck to you Real Networks, and thanks.
CommentsI want to see RealAudio supported for CE platform
CommentsIt's a real shame and I can't think of any reason why it has not been developed. Macromedia recently released a Flash! version for Pocket PC.
Commentsinterest in a Windows CE version of RealAudio
CommentsWhat audio application can I use for a HP Jornada 720 which has a StrongARM SA111X processor
CommentsThe quality of the new real audio 8 is fantastic. I use it with my ReaJokebox plus to encode all my CDs. The only problem is that I can't listen to these tracks on my pocketPC because RealAudio is not available on pocketPC's. Real Networks must produce a player for this platform. PocketPC's market share is growing fast and microsoft is using this platform to deploy windows media technologies to the masses. Realnetworks must pay attention to this or it may be late to catch up as wma gets established on pocketpc's.
CommentsWHo got realaudio player for WinCE?
CommentsReal Networks, somebody, please develope a version of RealAudio for the Pocket PC's. There are so many sites that carry audio files in the *.ra format that to miss out on not being able to access these is a shame. Please. Please. Please. Lpeplinski@home.com
CommentsI would really love to see a version of RealAudio for CE -- and I know lots of other people that would too :) Pleaseeee!! :) katsumi@decepticonz.net

CommentsIf you don't make a player for PocketPC, someone else will.
CommentsLooking for a program or wanting resources to write a program that takes input from the mic and displays a frequecy domain plot (spectrum analyzer) on the screen. Any clues? Danuuc@hotmail.com
CommentsI have 2 gigabytes of lectures that are in the realaudio format. The only way i can listen to it is when i'm away from the office, which means my ipaq pocketpc is my only option. Please please ....please, can we have realaudio player for the pocketpc? yiftach@usa.com
CommentsSo, how may years will we have to wait for RealAudio for WindowsCE? From reading the log, they're wasting years of consumer base.
Commentsyes please!!!!!!!!! adenby@optusnet.com.au
CommentsI need REal player for windows CE, please where download? thanks, Real!!
CommentsPlease make a WindowsCE version of Real Audio...it is much needed. Thank you O.T
CommentsI can't even tell you how many real video clips (full episodes) I have that I would love to watch on my handheld!!!
CommentsReal Player for Pocket PCs would be a very effective and essential requirement as the Size does matter here. While most of the current pocket pc's supports only MP3 player which takes around 8times size more than rm files. Expecting very eagerly on the release of real player for Pocket pCs Saravanan.P psara99@yahoomail.com
CommentsReal media is superior to any Microsoft codec (save WMV) at lower bandwidth speeds. Since most CE users looking for streaming content (in my peculiar little world) are going to be using 19.2Kbps wireless until Ricochet and 802.11b/g become more prevalent everywhere, Real would be the way to go. Now we just need the RealPlayer CE! Not to mention the fact that Real streaming is usually cheaper than Windows Media streaming.
CommentsI am VERY interested in a realplayer for PocketPCs.
CommentsPLEASE REAL AUDIO. GIVE US THE PLAYER FOR CE
CommentsI am looking for a way to play WAV files on my Jornada 548. though it will play some WAV files from Explorer, it will not play all, and it is unclear why. HP says there is a converter that will convert desktop version WAV files into palm/handhelds. Does anyone know where i can find such a converter? marc hauser@wjh.harvard.edu

Commentsis there a way to play a .rm file on the ipaq?
CommentsPlease make one they are so much smaller in size
CommentsI don want RealAudio for my ppc, I want RealVideo!!!!
CommentsHey I want a real player that can run on iPaq. thousands of audio files are in real format - and pretty useless for the mobile user. I think unlike PC platform people will be willing to pay to aquire this (I sure am as long as it is below $10). cheers Silmi Nawaz
CommentsI would be very interested in a very of RealAudio for Windwows CE!!
CommentsI want real player on my @migo!!!!! How much and how long??? Unsupported is not an option.
CommentsReal Audio Player and Real Video Player for Windows CE (Ipaq) is needed. Or an converter from .rm to .mpg
CommentsIt would be damn nice if there were a version of RealAudio for the Windows CE. Thanks
CommentsREAL MEDIA FOR WINDOWS CE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
CommentsMP3 is there, MPEG-1 is there, DivX is there, where is the real player? Real player would actually give the best performance for low bandwidth device like Pocket PC. Even in limited storage it is possible to store quite a lot of "good enough" quality Real media content. This is not only real audio, but video as well.
CommentsABSOLUTLEY!!!!!!! PLEASE DEVELOP REALAUDIO FOR WIN CE. THERE IS SO MUCH CONTENT THAT WE'RE MISSING OUT ON. PREFERABLY, ALLOW MEDIA PLAYER TO RUN REALAUDIO although I know I'm just dreaming but it would be nice not to have to install another app.
CommentsPlease make a Real PLayer available on the WIndows CE platform that works vell with .rm .rm. ram feeds from the network. If possible make it so that one can stream a few minutes of content to the hand held device and save it for later listening, would be very good. Thank you, Tim
Commentspls provide support for pocket pc

CommentsYES PLEEEEEESE!

Commentsplease please please can we have a real player for pocket pc ????? please please please - nuff said!! ;) at the very least can we have a plug-in that allows the "windows media player on pocket pc" to play real audio files?????????? please please please? you know u have a superior format - lets contemporise - lets open it up - please please please - now u see you have a demand - just get the supply rolling - i even dont mind paying for it - i mean i pay for a real player/ jukebox subscription - so y not for pocket pc? cheers guys and rock on! - shabbirh
Commentscome on, no one will take this company seriously UNTIL they have a ppc version ! GET A GRIP !!
CommentsJust got my new PocketPC device, switched from Palm. Now all I need is RealPlayer for PocketPC. When will RealNetworks realise that there is a strong demand for this product on the PocketPC platform.....when will they supply this app....
CommentsDid a google search on "realaudio for windows ce" and this was the only hit. Am considering buying my first pda, but most of the audio sites I use don't support the windows media player....
CommentsHere's a link to a graphic designer's online resume. She apparently worked on the design of what she calls "Realplayer for Windows CE". What gives? http://www.bigtooth.org/software/ce.htm
CommentsYes I would be great robert from denmark
CommentsIt would be extremely helpful to be able to listen to the many lectures I have stored in RAM format. What's the delay? Am I going to have to convert to WMA and bow down to Microsoft once again?
CommentsI notice that there's a Real Player mobile for a Nokia machine on Symbian OS, so why not RP for Pocket PC? My particular interest is that the BBC (www.bbc.co.uk) has a welsh language course, with audio file to download, but ... they're only provided in .rm format. I'd love to listen to them on my Aero. ho, hum.
Commentsthis is for real company, please, a real audio plugin is really important for pocketPC users eric languenou
CommentsFYI, Feedback from Real Audio's customer service group regarding availability of Real Audio client/plug-ing. Let's hope that the time mentioned is intended to under promise and over deliver... -----Original Message----- From: cs@support.real.com [mailto:cs@support.real.com] Sent: Wednesday, January 23, 2002 9:32 AM We are hoping to have a version for pocket PCs and other hand held devices at by midspring time. Thank you, Customer Service RealNetworks

Commentshttp://www.realnetworks.com/company/press/releases/2002/compaq.html radix7@berlin.com
CommentsHurray!!! 2.5 years after the first comment was issued on this bulletin board... CTIA, ORLANDO, Florida, March 18, 2002 — RealNetworks®, Inc. (Nasdaq: RNWK Booth #1083) announced today that the mobile version of the RealOne™ Player, optimized for Pocket PC devices and showcased content from more than thirty content providers, spanning news, entertainment and sports, is available for free download at www.real.com/player/mobile. Additionally, as part of an expansion of the two companies' strategic relationship, Compaq will ship RealOne Player with Compaq iPAQ™ Pocket PC devices. P.S. Chris, Would it be too much to ask you to share this news with everyone who posted on this board?
CommentsFor those of us who were excited that RealAudio was finally releasing a client for Windows CE / Pocket PC, what was released has been VERY disappointing. People interested in more info might consult: http://davescompaqipaq.com/forum/showthread.php3?s=&postid=1980&t=6532#post1980 or http://discuss.pocketnow.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8025&highlight=RealOne The basic issue appears to be that RealOne for Pocket PC plays only a subset of the Real Audio formats. Moreover, what it is supposed to play it often will not. To add insult to injury Real's tech support barely seems to be taking this piece of software seriously. In reality what was released should be considered and alpha product... :( The question is will this 'product' be end of lifed (as it should), will it take another 2.5 years for the beta to be made available (as it might), or is RealAudio going to surprise us? (as I hope!) One thing is for sure. Real complains a lot about Microsoft. However, in this case Real is doing a pretty good job at marginalizing itself!
