In the MS ActiveSync box under file, I deleted the partnership with IPAQ
2210 so there were not partnerships at all. Now I can't sync

I uninstalled and reinstalled activesync 3.7 and it will not go through a
setup to establish a partnership. I have renamed both the IPAQ and the
desktop with hopes of a solution.

Help - how do I redefine a partnership

One possibility is that there are already 2 existing PC partnerships listed in the device registry. Look here with any registry editor:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners

There will be a P1 and a P2 key there, containing data to do with previous partnerships. If both contain names of your PCs, delete the bottom two pieces of data in each, then try synching again. If this doesn't work, I've no idea. Activesync is the festering carbuncle Microsoft seems still to think is doing the job, only it isn't for so very, very many users... Seems that perhaps with Vista they've re-thunk things, but that won't be available for a while yet...

I looked for that file and it did not show up anywhere. I got this from someone else that might help. Uninstall AS. Go to C:\Windows\system32 and delete these two files RAPI.dll and CEUTIL.dll

It's not a 'file' but rather a location in the device registry. You may use a remote registry editor from a PC, or preferably an installed registry editor on the device to find it. PHM or Resco or Tascal are all good.
