Microsoft gets Lotus Notes on it's latest mobile platform Windows Mobile 6

CommonTime, a leading company for extending lBM Lotus Notes to smartphones and PDA announces that Windows Mobile 6, through it's mSuite software, will support IBM Lotus Notes functionality

mSuite was featured in the 4Q06 Gartner Magic Quadrant. CommonTime has developed a business around bringing two opposing software giants together; by extending IBM Lotus messaging products including Lotus Sametime onto the Microsoft signature mobile platform Windows Mobile®. At 3GSM earlier this year Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft revealed Windows Mobile 6 with full fanfare and stated "A work force that is both mobile and connected is becoming essential for business success. That's why we're integrating innovative mobile technologies into all our key products, with Windows Mobile as the centrepiece". Windows Mobile 6 features enhancements to email, calendaring and improved versions of mobile versions of Office Outlook®, Office Word, Office Excel® and Office PowerPoint®

mSuite brings advanced Lotus Notes® messaging with strongly Lotus-centric functions and operations to Windows-focused devices. Features such as Lotus Sametime instant messaging and 'free time search', which are normally confined to the world of Lotus Notes®, will be available in the Windows environment of a smartphone or PDA. The value here for CommonTime Enterprise customers, such as Rolex, Coca Cola Bottling, Salvation Army, Philips, Oxfam, and other potential customers is that they can reduce the end-user learning curve, leverage existing Lotus skills and increase the speed of mobile email/applications deployment. Largely due to familiarity with the look, feel, and functionality of the technology which is strongly comparable with the Lotus Notes® desktop experience; CommonTime focuses exclusively on enterprises running Lotus Notes and runs Lotus Notes itself.

"Wireless mail takes businesses onto the first step of mobility. To reap real productivity benefits, and to mitigate risks, enterprises need efficient centralized deployment, security, and management, plus mobile line of business applications for remote workers anytime, anyplace. Windows Mobile 6 and mSuite, from CommonTime, provides the perfect mobility solution" says Martin Day, Head of Enterprise Sales, Palm Europe  (Source: Press Release)
