Dear PocketDOS users,

We would like to add a built-in keymap for the above device to PocketDOS. In order to do this we need to get some information from a user who has or wishes to use PocketDOS on this device.

The information we need is:

1) The value of the "OEM Info" field in the system information displayed by PocketDOS. You can display this information by selecting the "Help->System Information" item from the PocketDOS menu.

2) The output of the SETKEY SHOW command for the following keys:

All keys on the slide-out keyboard.

To provide accurate information, please follow these steps:

2.1) Select "Settings->Keyboard->Options" from the PocketDOS menu.
2.2) Enable the "Enable text entry mode" option.
2.3) Press the "Done" button to save the setting.
2.4) Select "Settings->Keyboard->Mapping" from the PocketDOS menu.
2.5) Select "Reset key mappings" from the menu.
2.6) Confirm by pressing the "Yes" button.
2.7) Press the "OK" button to save the setting.
2.8) If not already in text entry mode, press the left softkey until you see a text entry field in the place of the left softkey text.
2.9) Type SETKEY SHOW and press the <Enter> or <Action> key twice.
2.10) Press the left softkey or type EXITEDIT to exit text entry mode.
2.11) Press the left softkey until the left softkey text reads "Keyboard".

Please provide us with this information ASAP so that we can incorporate the keymap for this device into PocketDOS v1.12.3.

Thank you for your input.

Dear Sir,

It appears as if the Pocket PC version of PocketDOS has been installed on your device. This version does not have the SmartPhone input modes. You will need to manually install the "landscape" Smartphone version of PocketDOS. To install the "landscape" SmartPhone version of PocketDOS, please put the device in landscape mode (by sliding out the keyboard) before installing PocketDOS. If that does not work, then you will need to install that version of PocketDOS manually. To do this:

1) Rename the PocketDOS_1122.exe file to PocketDOS_1122.zip
2) Extract the PocketDOS.arm_wm_spl.CAB file and copy it to your device.
3) Open the CAB file (using File Explorer) on your device, to install PocketDOS.

Thank you for your assistance.

As a side note, the R key causes font to cycle to the next larger size when pressed.

Also, do you need the windows virtual keycodes for the directional dial or the numeric pad on the top of the phone?

Dear Sir,

Thank you for this information. It would appear from your description, that all of the keys (with the exception of the R key) behave as expected in PocketDOS. Is this correct? If not, please provide us with the keycodes of any other keys which do not behave as you would expect them to in PocketDOS.

Thank you for your input.

So far, everything else is operating as I would expect. I thought I had something wrong, until I realized the Function key was also the Num Lock button... the directional pad was putting out numbers for a while!

I should point out that the R key worked fine with the PocketPC version, it's only since I installed the Smartphone version issues have started with the R key.

All the buttons have an additional symbol or number on them with the exception of the shift, Enter, Windows, and OK buttons; but I don't know how to generate a softkey binding from those (or even if it's possible).

Dear Sir,

We would set the keymap up to allow access to those symbols with the "Fn" key. Is that how one would normally access these symbols in other applications on the device?

Thank you for your input.

Sorry, out for a while with family obligations. Yes. That is how those symbols are normally accessed in all other WindowsMobile apps. (and for the most part, in PocketDos as well)

The secondary functions on each key are as follows

q = 1
w = 2
e = 3
r = 4
t = 5
y = 6
u = 7
i = 8
o = 9
p = 0
Backspace = Delete
FN = Numlock
a = !
s = @
d = &
f = $
g = *
h = #
j = (
k = )
l = :
. = "
z = \
x = /
c = -
v = +
space = accesses the symbol map
b = '
n = ,
m = ?
