<Update> I truncated this post to summarize the long documentation bug description (and rather verbose response by me)...bottom line is that we've updated the user manual per your suggestion; please see below </Update>

privacy1901 posted the following (excerpted from his post) on Sat Jun 24, 2006 at 6:40 pm"

"It appears to be decrypting the entire volume when it is "mounted" and leaving it decrypted in its entirety until it is 'mounted' again, at which time the entire this is re-encrypted.... This would be completely acceptable ifthis was made plainly clear in all advertising materials as well as the documentation."

Thanks for your suggestion....In fact on our main product page it already points this out accurately, where it describes the product feature bullet point of:

"Automatic volume encryption after a user-defined number of minutes"

However, thanks to your good eye, I was able to find four places in the manual where this description was misleading or inaccurate. Good call! We've hopefully fixed it now, and explained it much more clearly in the manual. Please let us know if you find any other errors in the documentation. From the manual:

"The second way is the mounted volume encryption. You can create a secure, encryptable, virtual directory on the mobile device. This virtual directory expands automatically as you add more files or folders to it. When you "mount" the volume, all files in the directory are decrypted for your use. Then when you "unmount" the volume, all files are automatically encrypted again. These volumes can also be set to auto-encrypt (dismount) after a user-defined amount of time. So if you want tighter security, you can set the volumes to automatically re-encrypt (unmount) more quickly."

One more thing I think they should add to the manual might be a warning to use individual file/folder encryption for your most sensitive files (like password lists, patient medical records, etc.), rather than using volumes. That would ensure that there were no "weak links" (as you say) in utilizing the maximum strength of the encryption.
