Windows Mobile Device Center - Services

Services:

The following services are required to connect via Windows Mobile Device Center.  All of these services should be set to Automatic in order for WMDC to work correctly.  If these services are not running then you will not be able to sync with WMDC.

Service Description
COM+ Event System Supports System Event Notification Service (SENS) which provides automatic distribution of events to subscribing Component Object Module COM components.
DCOM Server Process Launcher Provides launch functionality for DCOM services.
DHCP Client Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol - This service is required to allow Vista to accept the IP address of a Windows Mobile device using RNDIS.
Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Remote Procedure Call
UPnP Device Host Allows Universal Plug and Play devices to be hosted on this computer. - This service detects when the Windows Mobile device is plugged into a USB port.
Windows Mobile 2003-baased device connectivity Provides connectivity for Windows Mobile 2003-based devices.
Windows Mobile based device connectivity Provides remote command and control to Windows Mobile-based devices.

Start Required Services

To assist you with confirming that these services are running, you can use the WMDC Start Services batch file.   To run the batch file, you must download the batch file and right click on it.  Then select the option to Run as Administrator.  If after you run this batch file allows you to sync, you need to review the services above and ensure that they are set to Automatic.
