Pack 1
By Bernie Torbik, Copyright 2002
Version 1.00 Revised 2/6/2002

Introduction
So you want to upgrade to the latest Service
Pack from HP? Well here's the instructions that Bernie Torbik used to
do it successfully:
- Make sure the 56x is plugged in to the AC adapter.
- Copy the Firmware cab file to the Temp folder.
- Ensure that any owner screen info that displays when the 56x turns
on, is unchecked.
- Do a THOROUGH backup.
- Make sure you have at least 8MB of free storage and program space
available (each).
- Tap the cab file and let it do its thing(s). This will install
the .CAB file.
- Process for this portion will take 2-5 minutes.
- When finished, do a soft reset and check the calculator and other
in-built HP programs.
- If OK, repeat for the Microsoft update.
- The Microsoft update will take ~ 8-10 minutes to install.
- Check out the Windows Media Player when you're through and see if it
works. Some folks have had trouble with this, so, if after a soft
reset your 56x plays Windows Media Player OK, you've probably been
successful.
