Q. Can I upgrade the internal RAM in my E-15?

A. No. However, you can use a CompactFlash RAM card for additional storage of programs or files.

Q. What CompactFlash cards are supported?

A. You can check Microsoft's Windows CE Hardware Compatibility List for some CompactFlash devices that will work with your Cassiopeia. The list can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/hwtest/hsearchce.idc. Keep in mind that the devices on this list are not necessarily the only ones that will work, just the ones that have been tested.

Q. What modems can I use with the E-15?

A. You can use the Casio JK-711MC56 CompactFlash modem card, a third-party CompactFlash modem card, or an external modem.

Q. How do I connect an external modem to the E-15?

A. Place the E-15 in its cradle, then connect a null-modem cable and a 9-pin to 25-pin adapter between the cradle's cable and the modem. Make certain that the external modem is turned on before configuring your dialer settings. The external modem will be treated as a generic "Hayes Compatible on COM1."

Q. My external modem does not work using the supplied cradle.

A. You must also use a null modem cable and a 9-pin to 25-pin adapter in conjunction with the supplied cradle in order for the external modem to work.

Q. I'm using a CompactFlash RAM card, but when I go to the System properties, the amount of memory has not increased. Why?

A. The RAM on the card is used for storage of programs and files, much like you would use a floppy disk on a desktop computer. The card cannot be used to increase program execution memory, and it is for that reason that the RAM on the card isn't added to main memory.

Q. How do I install programs to a CompactFlash RAM card?

A. This may vary depending on how the individual program is installed. For some programs that are installed from the desktop PC through the Application Manager, a dialog box asking if you want to install to the default application install directory might appear. Answering "No" to this dialog box will prompt you to choose a directory, and you may specify the Storage Card. If you would like to be prompted for a directory whenever you install through the Application Manager, clear the check box next to "Install using the default application install directory."

Q. When using applications on the E-15, how do I save files to a CompactFlash card?

A. The correct procedure varies depending on the application. For Note Taker and Voice Recorder, you can move existing files from Main Memory to the card if you go to the File menu, select Properties, and change the location to "Storage Card."

Q. How can I set up Note Taker or Voice Recorder to automatically save files to a CompactFlash RAM card?

A. Go to the Tools menu and select Options. Tap the Save tab in Note Taker, or the General tab in Voice Recorder. Place a check mark in the box next to "Save to storage card."

Q. How can I set up Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, or Inbox to utilize the CompactFlash RAM card?

A. This is not possible.

Q. The JK-711MC56 modem is silent while dialing. How can I turn on the dialing sounds?

A. This is not possible. You must check the onscreen messages to see if you have made a successful connection.

Q. Is it possible to use IBM CF-Card Microdrive with Cassiopeia?

A. No, we do not recommend it. The operating system (Windows CE) will be able to recognize the drive, however, current demand from the IBM Microdrive is too high for the batteries and/or present model Casio AC adapters. There may be corruption in the memory of both Cassiopeia and/or Microdrive.
