Q. How do I perform a soft reset of the A-20?

A. Press the RESET button with the stylus. Then turn on the power.

F. If, after performing a soft reset, the message "A problem with memory contents has been found, and memory must be initialized." appears, you must go through the set up screens again. After that, copy any important files to the computer, and perform a full reset.

Q. How do I perform a full reset of the A-20?

A. While holding CTRL and ALT, press the RESET button with the stylus. Then tap the screen to perform the full reset, or press the RESET button again to perform a soft reset.

P. I can't open the backup battery cover.

S. Insert the stylus tip into the small hole near the cover. Then slide the cover back.

Q. How do I adjust the contrast?

A. Hold ALT and press the < or > keys.

Q. How do I toggle Num Lock?

A. Hold FN and press CTRL.

Q. What is the key combination to recalibrate the stylus?

A. Hold CTRL and ALT and press the - key.

Q. How do I change the amount of time that the backlight stays on before turning off automatically?

A. Go to Control Panel, double-click Display, and then click the Backlight tab.

Q. My unit's backlight will not light or will only light for a few seconds.

A. This is a strong indication that the unit's batteries are at a low level condition. This is a function of the unit.

P. The backlight won't turn on even though unit is on AC power.

S. This happens when battery power is low. To correct this, install the Casio Service Pack from the Bonus Software CD included with the unit. The backlight can then be used with AC power regardless of the status of battery power.

Q. Why is there an audible buzz from the backlight?

A. Not all units have an audible buzz. We do not have a correction at this time. (12/30/97).

Q. How do I connect the A-20 to a printer?

A. You must use the included cable along with the appropriate adapter as follows: If the printer you are connecting uses a parallel port, you need a serial to parallel adapter. If the printer uses a serial port, you need a null-modem cable.

F. The serial cable included with the A-20 is designed for communication with a desktop computer and cannot be plugged directly into a serial printer.

F. The only printers that are supported at this time are those that use PCL3 drivers.

P. Incompatibility with IBM ThinkPad series laptops.

S. Some ThinkPads have OS/2 installed as the primary boot partition and Windows 95 in a second partition. This may cause CE installation problems. If the PC is reconfigured to Windows 95 only then Windows CE should work fine.

Q. I forgot my password! What can I do?

A. If you forget your password, the only way to use your Cassiopeia again is to perform a full reset according to the manufacturer's instructions. Caution: this will delete all your data.

Q. How do I find out information about my Cassiopeia such as total memory, processor type or OS version?

A. Tap Start, then Settings, then Control Panel. Double-tap System, then tap the General tab. This will show how much memory is installed in the system (not including expansion card memory). It will also specify the processor type, the Windows CE version and the type of expansion card (if one is installed).
